"Tower of David" its not a luxury hotel, its the highest slum in the world. 3,000 people found a shelter in an abandoned 45floors building.
Construction of the building, originally named "Centro Financiero Confinanzas" was started in 1990. Construction was supposed to be a symbol of a bright financial future of Caracas city in Venezuela and third tallest skyscraper in the country. But in 1994 they stopped construction because of the crisis. The building has no elevators, no electricity or water, in many places don't even have walls.
In 2007 many people occupied the building. People were able to conduct electricity and plumbing. Despite the fact that this building has no lift people can use bikes to get to the 10th floor, but then they will have to walk up. In the long hallways of the building there're warehouses, clothing stores, beauty salons, dentist and kindergartens. Some people even have cars which they're parking in the garage of the building . In this abandoned building about seven hundred families - more than 3,000 people.
Now this tower called Tower of David, because of its developer David Brillemburga. People say that "Tower of David" is much more safer than any other place in Caracas and most slums around the city.
People pay only 32$ per month for utilities and security.
